Lewis Residence Entry Portico

Over the years the entry canopy of this 1880s Mansard styled residence had been buried beneath a vestibule enclosure on the first floor and covered porch above. The restoration work removed the porch and vestibule enclosure, salvaged the original pediment,

rebuilt the roof canopy and duplicated the original column and stoop details. When the vinyl siding was removed the window hood details were restored using the ghost images of the original details as patterns.

 

This project won a 2008 Newton Preservation Award
