Meigs/Talcott Studio & Accessory Apartment

Built on a lot adjacent to their home in Newton Corner the building serves as a studio for Julia on the lower level and a studio apartment on the main level with a sleeping loft within the roof. The compact

1730 sf structure is designed to fit within the accessory building footprint and height limitation. While the form is simple the aesthetic comes from the exterior detailing that reflect the surrounding early 19th century housing stock.

With a desire to build sustainable the architect, owner and builder worked together to build the project as a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver certified project. The building includes an array of strategies to minimize the impact of the construction and long term operation of the building on the environment.
