Swager Residence Newton Corner, Ma.
This Queen Anne home was built in the 1880s
and subsequently stripped of all its exterior trim to be clad in vinyl siding. The structure
included a bay off the side of the house and a corner bay in the front, both one story with flat roofs and no trim. The front porch was an early nineteenth century addition.
The project involved a total exterior makeover. All the siding and windows were replaced. The exterior walls were insulated and air sealed. The front porch rebuilt with a custom railing assembly The shed roof over the porch was replaced with a hip and a new pediment was added over the entry. The windows were trimmed with hoods. A second story was added to the corner bay and both bays were crowned with a cornice.
The exterior color scheme was developed by a color consultant.
